Just for You Photography is a privately owned company and was started completely out of determination and love. Kara MacFarlane has been taking photographs for over 15 years, professionally for 10 years. She has always had an eye for capturing the special moments. She loves creating beautiful photographs that will last a lifetime because these will be the heirlooms that are handed down to future generations. Kara has lived in Berkeley County, WV all of her life and has watched the area grow and flourish. She received her first camera at the age of 8 and the shutter hasn’t stopped.
Kara has a Bachelor’s degree in photography from Shepherd University and has taken many workshops to perfect her techniques. In the past, she has had the opportunity to work with one of the local studios in the area as the assistant and main photographer taking photographs at weddings, portrait settings, sports action and commercial. In March 2001, Kara traveled to Cuba, with professor and professional photographer, Benita Keller, with the guidance of Shepherd University. A select few photographs were shown in two exhibitions with fellow students. She has developed her very own photojournalistic style by observing and training with others.
Just For You Photography is based in Inwood, West Virginia. She has traveled the tri-state area to photograph in Martinsburg, Inwood, Charles Town, Falling Waters, WV, Winchester, Front Royal, Culpepper, VA and Olney, Frederick, Walkersville, MD just to name a few places. Kara is an experienced photographer – one who has spent years studying the craft, honing skills, and perfecting her style. Professional images comprise a lot of factors – otherwise, why would you hire someone to photograph your children if you could just do it yourself? Composition, metering, focus, white balance, skin tones, light in the eyes, pose, post processing….. these are skills that take time to develop. Kara truly hopes and encourages buyers to really consider what they are buying and why – and not to choose solely on price.
